Least Documented Generation

Least Documented Generation

The other day Alex and I was speaking to a gentleman that was in his 60’s. He found out we were portrait photographers and he told us that his family came across a portrait of his Grandmother when she was about 18 years old. Along with his Grandmother was her 6 siblings and his Great Grandfather. He said that it was a professional portrait just because of the quality of the image. Wow! What a treasure to find.

That got me thinking that if this particular image had not been printed that he would never have this memory of his family. Which would be so sad.

But guess what? It’s happening today!! With today’s technology and the awesome phone cameras we are blessed with, we fail to print our photographs. Even our professional portraits are not being printed. They simply get stored on computers, CD’s, flash drives, and our phones to be forgotten about.

This generation is the most photographed generation ever, however it’s also the least documented generation. We’ve got to do better when it comes to our memories and for the next generation; our children!

I want my children and grandchildren to find boxes, albums, and walls in our homes filled with precious treasures of generations that lived before them.

What are we leaving for our children to remember?
