Alex grew up in his family business learning his craft side by side with his dad and leading portrait artists from around the country. He became passionate about creating timeless, heirloom portraits and building lasting relationships with his clients who he calls his “Portrait Family”. He learned very early on that drawing a person’s true personality during their portrait session is the key to creating a piece of art that will stand the test of time. He says, “my camera is a just a tool that allows me to catch a glimpse of who that baby, child, mom, dad, and/or person truly is.”
Alex also is passionate about his family and spending as much time with his wife and children when he’s away from the studio. He absolutely LOVES his coffee (as most of our clients have learned), traveling, exploring, hiking, and making sure he learns something new every day whether it’s through listening or reading books.
Becky Hyman, Art Director
Becky is the other half of Phil Hyman Portraits. She became part of the family business when she was only 18 years old and when she and Alex were just dating. So needless to say, our clients have watched Alex and her date, get engaged, marry, and now have children.
She is also passionate about helping families build a visual, family legacy for their homes with portrait art. She’s a mom and knows just how important it is to capture these special moments in the life of a child/family. She’s our Art Director here at the studio and is the one that will walk you through selecting the perfect portrait for your home and guide you on how to decorate your home with personal family artwork.
Corlee Stopa, Experience Concierge
Corlee recently joined our in-studio team but has been a team member of Phil Hyman Portraits since she moved to Greenville in 2016. Having longtime, mutual friends and many years of experience in the portrait photography industry, we knew she’d be the perfect fit as our new experience concierge. She’ll be happy to help you throughout your portrait journey from the beginning stages of planning your perfect session through selecting your memorable art pieces and answering any questions you may have along the way.
Corlee is the mother to two, boisterous boys and appreciates the value of timeless portraiture as she watches her babies turn to young men before her eyes. She approaches each experience at the studio with enthusiasm, because she personally understands the pricelessness of the family heirlooms we create, and asserts, “I wouldn’t trade the hundreds of portraits I have of my sons for the world. The first thing I do when I move into a new house is get my family photos up, because I really feel like they are what make your house, your home!” She can’t wait to meet and assist you from the moment you walk into the studio, during your session and when you come in to pick up your completed masterpiece.
Lauren Forrester, Art Director
Lauren recently joined our Phil Hyman Portrait team, but she is definitely not a novice in the portrait photography industry. Her father was a portrait photographer in Athens, Georgia for many years, and she shadowed and trained with him for most of her life before opening her own studio after college. Her experience is vast not only behind the lens but also when it comes to her expert eye for helping others select the perfect, timeless art pieces for their homes.
As a wife and mother of two, Lauren cherishes familial relationships and truly has a knack for connecting with others and assisting our patrons in the very challenging decisions of choosing their cherished heirlooms. She’s dedicated and determined to help you in any way she can as she commutes from her residence in Athens, Georgia a couple of days a week specifically to serve you. She is excited to guide you through the presentation of your images and offer suggestions and advice to make your decision-making process as easy as possible.
